LoveSetMatch and LASD Launch “STEM-Tennis” Initiative for At-Risk Youth at VIDA Program
LOS ANGELES, CA — April 11, 2026 — LoveSetMatch, a Southern California youth development non-profit, is proud to announce a high-impact collaboration with Deputy Enrique Peralta of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (Community Partnership Bureau).
On Saturday, April 11th, LoveSetMatch will bring its “STEM-Based Tennis” curriculum to youth in the Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives (VIDA) program at the Eugene W. Biscailuz Training Center. This initiative goes beyond the court, utilizing tennis as a vehicle for both academic and emotional growth. The curriculum introduces youth to the physics of the sport—analyzing the effects of gravity, ball trajectory, and the aerodynamics of topspin—to spark an interest in STEM fields.
“At LoveSetMatch, we believe that sport is a catalyst for restorative healing and long-term resilience in every young person,” says Phillip Kim (Coach PK), Executive Director. “For kids facing the trauma of substance abuse or gang involvement, the court is a sanctuary. By combining the science of the game with the discipline of the sport, we are providing a pathway to healing and a future built on logic, focus, and resilience. “The event will feature mobile tennis units and pop-up nets, transforming the training center grounds into a space of discovery, mentorship, and athletic excellence.
