War Update - Missile Attack on Kylv
On the morning of 8 July 2024, a tragic event unfolded as the Russian army launched a massive missile attack on Kyiv, marking one of the most devastating assaults since the beginning of the war. The air alert rang out, but within minutes, the skyline of the Ukrainian capital was shrouded in black smoke, a grim aftermath of the ruthless air strike. The attack involved 38 missiles, including the Iskander, Kinzhal, and Zircon hypersonic missile, putting the lives of Ukrainian children at risk.

The Russians targeted residential areas, including the country’s main children’s hospital Okhmatdyt, resulting in 38 deaths and 190 injuries as of this moment. The situation is dire, with children’s security compromised, hindering their daily activities and access to medical care. Their sense of security shattered, they cannot sleep soundly, attend school without fear, engage in many of the activities and sports like our nonprofit Ukraine partner provides, tennis, or receive consistent medical care in hospitals that are now targets of war.

As you may be aware, the multiple Russian army’s missile attacks over the last 2.5 years on Ukriane has left a trail of destruction, including damage to vital infrastructure and facilities, impacting the lives of innocent children and families.

We are deeply committed to supporting the affected communities, particularly focusing on the well-being of children who have been severely impacted by the ongoing conflict. We are dedicated to rebuilding and restoring damaged tennis facilities, providing essential tennis gear and equipment, and offering free lessons to children in war-torn areas or who had to relocate to a new or different than home areas.
Our mission is to create a safe and nurturing environment where children can find solace and joy through the sport of tennis. By offering free lessons and access to quality equipment, we aim to bring a sense of normalcy and hope to those who have been affected by the recent tragic events.
