Come meet fellow students, try something new, and celebrate women in sport together.
This March, the Golden Eagle Tennis Club at Cal State Los Angeles and LoveSetMatch is proud to host a special event called “Rally For Her” in celebration of National Women’s Month and International Women’s Day.
Rally For Her is more than a tennis gathering. It is an invitation for women across campus to step onto the court, connect, and experience the confidence and joy that sport can bring.
Honoring a Golden Eagle Legend
This year’s event is also a celebration of one of the most influential figures in tennis history, Billie Jean King, who attended California State University, Los Angeles.
Billie Jean King changed the landscape of sports through her advocacy for gender equality and her historic achievements on the court. Her legacy reminds us that tennis can be more than a game — it can be a platform for leadership, courage, and opportunity.
Rally For Her is inspired by that legacy and aims to introduce a new generation of students to the empowering spirit of the sport.
Creating Space for Women in Sport
Tennis has long been a sport where women have broken barriers and led movements for equality. From trailblazing champions to everyday players discovering the game for the first time, the tennis court has been a place where confidence, leadership, and resilience are built.
At Cal State LA, the newly launched Golden Eagle Tennis Club is already bringing students together around that spirit. With more than 40 members already signed up, the club is quickly becoming a place where students can learn, play, and build community.
Rally For Her is designed to expand that community even further.
What to Expect
The event will take place at the Cal State LA Tennis Courts and will feature an open, welcoming environment for players of all levels.
Participants can look forward to:
- Open-court social tennis play
- Beginner-friendly instruction for students trying tennis for the first time
- A special talk from a member of the Cal State LA Women’s Tennis Team
- A celebration of women’s leadership in sport
Whether you are an experienced player or someone who has never held a racquet before, Rally For Her is meant to be a space where everyone feels welcome.
A Celebration of Wellness and Community
The Golden Eagle Tennis Club is also inviting collaboration from Cal State LA Athletics and Student Health & Wellness to help highlight the importance of physical activity, mental well-being, and community engagement.
Sport has the power to bring people together, and events like Rally For Her create opportunities for students to connect in a meaningful and active way.
About the Golden Eagle Tennis Club
The Golden Eagle Tennis Club was recently launched at Cal State LA to create a welcoming space where students can learn tennis, play socially, and build friendships through sport. The club is supported by LoveSetMatch, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to tennis and empowering young people through athletics.
Inspired by the legacy of Billie Jean King, the club hopes to continue building a vibrant and inclusive tennis community on campus.
