LoveSetMatch Launches STEM-Based Tennis Program at Athens Park Following “Game Changers” Kickoff
Los Angeles, CA – September 12, 2025 – LoveSetMatch, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to tennis, education, and youth empowerment, is proud to announce the launch of its STEM-Based Tennis Program at Athens Park. The program will debut at “Game Changers: Youth Athletes for Equity,” hosted by Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell’s Office on Saturday, September 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Athens Park Gymnasium (12603 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90061).
At the kickoff event, youth ages 12–18 will participate in hands-on clinics across multiple sports, including LoveSetMatch’s STEM-integrated tennis workshop. This unique approach blends tennis instruction with science, technology, engineering, and math concepts, teaching young athletes how physics, problem-solving, and teamwork apply directly to the game.
Immediately following the kickoff event, LoveSetMatch will continue the impact by offering a 10-week STEM-Based Tennis Program at Athens Park. The weekly sessions will expand on the lessons from the clinic, providing youth with consistent coaching, mentorship, and academic integration. Families can learn more and register here.
“Sports are a powerful way to connect with kids, and when we combine tennis with STEM education, we’re creating an opportunity for youth to succeed both athletically and academically,” said Phillip Kim, Executive Director of LoveSetMatch. “We are honored to partner with Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell’s office and Athens Park to launch this program and provide lasting opportunities for South LA youth.”
The Game Changers: Youth Athletes for Equity event will also spotlight efforts to remove systemic barriers in youth sports and ensure every child has the chance to play, grow, and thrive.
